Dither Weather — Privacy

Dither Weather is a desktop weather app. It has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not collect, sell or share personal data. This page lists exactly what leaves your computer and why, because a weather app cannot show the weather without asking someone for it.
What the app sends, and to whom

Every connection uses HTTPS. Each of these services sees your computer's IP address, as any internet request does, and each is governed by its own privacy policy. The app contacts nothing else: no font servers, no update checks, no crash reporting, no telemetry. The list above was measured by capturing the app's network traffic, not copied from a design document.
Location
The app never asks your operating system for your location and never uses GPS. The only place it knows about is the one you type into the search box. It starts on Los Angeles until you change it.
What the app stores on your computer
One small settings file: your chosen place, units, language, companion, scene and appearance preferences. On macOS it lives in your Library folder (inside the app's own container for the App Store version); on Windows, under your local application data. It stays on your machine, it is never uploaded, and deleting the app's settings folder resets the app. Nothing is written anywhere else.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by the store you bought from (the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store). The app itself has no payment code, no licence keys and no way to identify you.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If what the app sends ever changes, this page changes with it, with a new effective date at the top.
